[Enjay] Turning the page blue

Postby Enjay » Mon May 07, 2018 6:50 pm

A man sits at a desk, writing a series of rude words.

The man is usually very polite in his day to day life so why is he doing this?

Does he do this as part of his job?

Does he write only rude words? Sentences containing rude words?
Are all rude words different? Or does he repeat them?

Dictionaries relevant? Learning a foreign language relevant? Is he a teacher?

Has he done this before? After this incident, will he write rude words again in the future? Was he told to write the words? Was he planning on/expecting to write the words? Do the words bear any significance to him?

Is he testing something? Something in the vein of auto-correction, recognised valid words in word-processing software, censorship filters for forums and how these programs deal with the Scunthorpe problem?

Does he not know how to use the three sea shells?

Does he prompt a reaction of the computer program after each swearword? Once after all of the swearwords?
Is the list of swearwords saved in any way? Are people relevantly going to read the swearwords? If so, will they see the whole list? Or one swearword at a time?

Does he have Tourettes? Is he writing the rude words as an alternative to saying them? Is he writing pornography? Does he have a swear box? Is he writing a list of rude words which he must not say? Is it a list of words which will be banned on a computer programme, a website or something? Words which will not be tolerated? Words which might engender a specific response, such as in a computer game? Variables in a programme?

Is he writing a specific category of swear words (slurs, sexual innuendos, 4-letter exclamations)? Is he basing which words he writes off of something he's: read? seen? heard? Are the words intended to be seen by one or more people? Are they intended to be interpreted by the computer program?

The "yesish" is to do with whether you would consider what he is typing them into to be a "search engine"

Is he looking up texts that contain the swearwords? Are song lyrics relevant?
WAG: he is planning to compile a playlist for his son‘s birthday party, and all he knows of the kids‘ favourite music is that there‘s a lot of swearing?

Is he using the Tor browser? Deep web, dark web?
Is it a neural network? AI?
Is it Old English swear words, Chaucer? Shakespeare? To be or not to be, that is my arse?
Is he mixing swear words with other words, e.g. ice-cream flavours, to generate new and fancy ice-creams?
Would it help to know which swear words he was typing/not typing?

RECAP:

The man is typing the words, yesishly into a word processing program and yesishly into a search engine.

It is not relevant specifically which words he is typing.

The words are not relevantly from a song or piece of literature.

I think that's about it for a recap - most of this puzzle so far seems to have been me saying no to things!

So he's got a document open in front of him, and he's using "find and replace" to turn normal words into swear words? Is the document something he wrote? Something written by a classmate? Coworker? Family member? Is he editing the document for someone and wants to get them in trouble? Copyright law relevant? Filler text (for a game or similar?) Is he trying to annoy censors?

I once read a piece of writing advice that said an author should find and replace the word 'very' with 'f***ing', and then delete it, and any affected sentence would invariably be better off. Is this what he's doing?
