[Enjay] Overachiever

Postby Enjay » Thu May 31, 2018 9:53 pm

Jason starts a new hobby, which he enjoys and does well at. However, the better he gets, the less he enjoys doing it. Why?

Does he enjoy it because it gives him new challenges, and as he gets better it's not as challenging and not as fun anymore? Does he get more bored with it as he gets better? Hobby: creative? Making something? Sports? Games? Collecting? Usually done alone? In a group?

Do other people with this hobby have the same reaction? WAG: is it some sort of competition or challenge, and as he gets better he finds it harder to get a decent challenge/competitor?
Is the hobby an art? A craft? Something done in the mind? Such as meditation? Something to do with food? Drink?
WAG: is it brewing, or making some other mind-altering substance, which leads to an addiction to the substance, which is not very enjoyable?

Do other people with this hobby have the same reaction? Possibly WAG: is it some sort of competition or challenge, and as he gets better he finds it harder to get a decent challenge/competitor? No

Is the process of getting better relevant? I mean...relevant "how" he gets better? Through training? Through competitions? Is he practicing it at an amatorial level? As a professionist? Are there official matches of that sport? A championship? Tournaments? Does he participate to one of them? Is he getting better in the hobby or are the others getting worse? Has he got many competitors? Are there leagues? Is he going in higher and higher leagues w.r.t others? Is there many people competing at hogh levels in that sport? Is he still playing with "lower level people"? Did he want to compete with people at his same level?

He enjoys less = he is bored? Do the rules of the game/place in which it is played change the higher the league/the level reached? Did he want to reach a very high level? Does the sport become more cruel the higher the level? Competitors more competitive in a negative way? Is it(the fact that he enjoys less) a matter of his opponents? Of the sport per se? Of him growing? If so growing up in age? Physically? Both?

Team = the team which actually plays ( bleachers excluded I mean) is composed by 2 people? 3? 11? 5? More than 4? More than 11?
Can we invoke the list of team sports? Is it basket? Volley? Beach volley? Football? Rugby? Polo? Water polo? Curling? Relay race?
Is it played on the beach? On the snow? On a field? In inside? In outside? Relevant?

Is the process of getting better relevant? I mean...relevant "how" he gets better? No Through training? Assume this Through competitions? Is he practicing it at an amatorial level? Assume amateur As a professionist?
Are there official matches of that sport? A championship? Tournaments? Yes to all Does he participate to one of them? Irrel Is he getting better in the hobby or are the others getting worse? He is getting better Has he got many competitors? Irrel Are there leagues? No Is he going in higher and higher leagues w.r.t others? Noish - leagues is not the correct concept Is there many people competing at hogh levels in that sport? Irrel Is he still playing with "lower level people"? Yes Did he want to compete with people at his same level? Irrel

He enjoys less = he is bored? No Do the rules of the game No/place in which it is played yope change the higher the league/the level reached? Did he want to reach a very high level? Yes Does the sport become more cruel the higher the level? Yope Competitors more competitive in a negative way? No

It is a sport done in group but not a team sport...so is it a sport which has competitions among people playing it? Is it played by more than 5 people? More than 11 people? Does it involve a ball? If so a curcular ball? A frisbee? A bowl? Darts? Is it usually played in halls? In specific places devoted to it? In swimming pools? Martial arts involved?
Are there scores? Is the winner the one scoring more? The one reaching a place first? Is it a conventional sport?

the better he gets = in the course of months/years? Or could it be even in a single competition? (E.g. the better he gets in the match, the less he enjoys the hobby in general?)

Is there a relevant equipment needed for playing the sport? Is it the hogher the level the less the equipmebt/defenses?
The better he becomes the less he enjoys = the more cruel he needs to be to win? Is the public relevant? More violence demanding?

Tentative WAG --> was it a paraolympic sport and his disability was such that he had still a great advantage w.r.t. opponents? (E.g. he was deaf and played parolympic basket/ he was very tall and played sit down volley...)

Are there several disciplines of the sport? Relevant? Do the equipements change the better one becomes? Relevant? Did he enjoy every discipline of the sport? Is it a group sport in the sense that there is a single one competeing but a team behind him (e.g. formula1 pilots...)

Are there scores? Yes, when done competitively, irrel to this puzzle but Is the winner the one scoring more? The one reaching a place first? Is it a conventional sport? I would say yes

Martial arts = karate? Judo? Aikido? MMA? Sumo? Krav maga? Boxing? Muai thai? Kung fu? Shaolin? Capoeira? If the latter, did he enjoy less because at the beginning it's presented as a sort of dance and then it becomes a martial art?
Ok...not really sure if you know this sport but...is it calcio fiorentino?

More than 11 people fighting against each others? Or is it more than 11 people making sort of representations with a jury judging their performances? Do the beginners fight against each other? Do the ones getting better? If so, do they use weapons? A different type of weapons?

Did he enjoy less because the sport becomes more dangerous the better he becomes? It takes more and more effort to become better when a certain level is reached? Did he mostly enjoy less due to the training he needed to make? To the type of competitions mostly? His opponents?Other factors?

Is it something like: he teaches Judo, and the better he gets at it, the fewer opponents he has? Or the more opponents he has at his level? Will he eventually run out of the pool of people to teach, which is making him sad? Age relevant (or him, of the students)?
Something to do with his age? His abilities? Is he getting better or worse?

Martial arts = karate? Judo? Aikido? MMA? Sumo? Krav maga? Boxing? Muai thai? Kung fu? Shaolin? Capoeira? To save you the list it was taekwondo - I think this would work with other martial arts but not sure. If the latter, did he enjoy less because at the beginning it's presented as a sort of dance and then it becomes a martial art? No
Ok...not really sure if you know this sport but...is it calcio fiorentino? No

Does he have to teach more? Does he not like teaching? Does he have to fight more? Less? Will he get to the point where he doesn't enjoy it at all? Where he actually dislikes it? Will he have to be a judge? Is he already a judge? Will he have to judge his peers, friends, family? Is there something new about the sport? Is the nature of the sport changing? Is HIS experience of the sport changing?

Is there a tatami? Do they need to wear shoes relevantly? Is it something like: the higher the level the more the public in the hall roaring and screaming, hence the more the echo? If not is it on those lines (something changing around him...)

Is it to do with pain in any way? Is he a masochist? So that the less pain he suffers (as he gets more skilful) the less satisfied he feels? Would this puzzle work with another martial art? Is it to do with the training of the body? The training of the mind? The other participants? E.g. is there someone he doesn't want to fight, but as he gets more skilled, he is more likely to have to fight them? Is it to do with the master? Is he related to the master or any of the others? Colours of belts/rank relevant?

do lower rank players refuse to spar with him (to avoid getting hurt) as he gets better?

does it have anything to do with the fact that when you climb ranks in TKD you'll have to study theories, history, do researches and written tests, etc?

Is the way in which he is judged relevant? Do judges assign grades? If so, all together? One per time? Do they progressively eliminate people from competition? Relevant? Relevant who are the judges? Is there music in the hall during performances? Any form of disturbance? Are formal greetings to judges relevant? Tricks? The possibility of assuming substances to boost the level? Is the way in which he needed to compete changed? Relevant the way to move from a rank to an higher one? Was there a theoretical examination too? Relevant what he needed to do in competitions a part from performing and maybe learning by heart japanese (or chinese?!) words to perform the right moves? Do the 11 perform all together? One per time? Relevant? Can we assume that he is fine in competing inside a hall rather than outside?
