[WiZ] Airportman [SORTED]

Postby WiZ » Sun Nov 25, 2018 8:02 pm

A university student from New York lands a (legal) part-time job selling a new piece of technology. He is due to fly to Los Angeles to give a demonstration.

He does not have the technology with him, but he is detained at the airport and interrogated until a senior staff member lets him go. Why?

Do airport staff suspect him of being a criminal? Of smuggling something? Of intending to hijack the plane? Do the staff at any point think the technology is a weapon?

Is he detained after something is found on his person? In his luggage? If so, is it a picture of the technology? Something that describes it? Advertises it?

Is he detained after he says something? Answers a routine question?

Is the cash in bills? Coins?
Large denominations? Small?

Do they detain him because of the amount of cash? How the cash is stored? Is it crumpled? Anything relevantly packed in addition to the cash?

Does the technology sort cash? Verify the authenticity of the cash? Dispense cash? Accept cash as payment? Clean/repair the cash?

Are drug dealers known to carry lots of coins? If so, is this to ensure the weight of their luggage stays consistent with or without the drugs? Is it to pay for something? To feed some kind of vending machine or meter?

IrishElk

Are drug dealers known to carry lots of coins? no! If so, is this to ensure the weight of their luggage stays consistent with or without the drugs? Is it to pay for something? To feed some kind of vending machine or meter? n/a to all

***** SPOILER *****

He landed a job demonstrating a coin-sorting machine, a new piece of technology at the time. His bag was stuffed full of (legal) coins for use with the device. He was detained on suspicion of being a drug dealer due to having a large amount of cash. However, the senior staff member pointed out that drug dealers tend to carry around wads of slightly larger denominations, and the student was set free.

Congratulations IrishElk on the final piece, and thank you everyone else for playing!
