Luke? (Not sure he meets the qualification of being less known than Paul though.)Not Luke, but you are very WARM. Barnabas? Cooler.
Did he have the last laugh because of something that happened after he died? Yope/yessish Did he get the last laugh as a result of something that happened after his death combined with something that happened during it? Was something previously thought about him proven wrong? Is the manner of his death relevant? The person who is the subject of this puzzle? No. Did the vindication occur within a century of his death? A millennia? Within a few days, DOYD of 'vindicated.Considering he maybe wasn't a disciple at the time of this incident, did he get the last laugh through his conversion somehow? Uknown. He may have been a disciple, but never was one of the Twelve Apostles.
Would it be fruitful to figure out how he suffered? If so, through physical pain? Imprisonment? In this puzzle, mostly embarassment. Was he a disciple when he endured this suffering? After? Before? Unknown. Had he renounced his faith at some point? AFAIK, no.
I was never good with Biblical names and trivia even when I was a Christian. This is proving to be rather difficult.
