[CoffeeBean] Command These Stones To Become Bread (EAT UP)

Postby CoffeeBean » Wed Jul 22, 2020 7:25 pm

A man became famous for doing a specific action less than 20 times in his whole life. Each of these times he was told to do it. He was asked periodically throughout his life to repeat the action but he refused. One of the last times he did it, he combined that action with another one that he had never been known to do before. Who was he?

This one may require some online help when we get very close to the end, but I suspect that among the participants someone will know who he is. This is a true story.

Is the man still alive? If not, did he live in the [LTPF list of centuries]?

Was it always the same person who told him to perform the action? Was it a person in the first place? a group of people? Could he have performed the action without being told to do so?

Have other people performed the same action? If so, did they also become famous?

Did other people see the man perform the action? If so, live? a recording? Did people see the results of the man having performed the action?

Art relevant? Politics? Sports? Religion?

Is the man still alive? If not, did he live in the [LTPF list of centuries]? He was born in the 20th century and passed away in 2014

Was it always the same person who told him to perform the action? No Was it a person in the first place? a group of people? Probably both, at certain times
Could he have performed the action without being told to do so? Yes

Have other people performed the same action? If so, did they also become famous? There have not been very many who have done the exact same thing. There is a very famous person who is alive now who has said that he had a very similar experience to the person who is the subject of this puzzle. The puzzle's title is a back-door hint based on this modern day person.

Did other people see the man perform the action? Yes If so, live? Some did, but...a recording? ...many, many more people saw it in this form. Did people see the results of the man having performed the action? Only a few people did

Art relevant? This one is closest Politics? Sports? Religion? None of these

Did the man have an unique condition that allowed him to do the actions? Physical characteristics relevant? Would it be possible for most people to learn to do what he did?

Did he perform the action at regular intervals? During specific events? Did he/other people know when he was going to do it days in advance? Weeks? Months? Years?

Does it involve heights? No Is one prop needed? Two? Three? More? Just one
If more than one, are the props identical?
Is the prop handheld? No Is there any danger at all involved? Not "danger" but OTRT Is this something one can try and fail? Not exactly "fail", but one could try this and opt not to do it. The more current example of this helps understand why this is the case.

Boxing relevant? Guinness world record involved? Astronauts? Evil Knievel?
Smiling relevant?

This, the prop is related to his teeth --> to protect the teeth? To mask them? To hide them? To make them look: terrifying? (e.g. vampire) toothless? dirty? made of a certain material?

If the prop is to protect the teeth: is it to protect him after a fall? After being hit? To fortify the teeth? to protect the teeth from high temperatures? Animals? to prevent that he bites himself after a knockback?

Hmm, when asked if the prop makes him look toothless, you said "No, much the opposite", but you said the same when I asked if it makes it look as if he has more teeth than usual... I'm confused. Could you clarify?

An unusual material: gold? steel? titanium? another metal? carbon fibre? wood? stone? glass? something organic?

Did the man have a normal, ordinary set of teeth without the prop? Or was there something unusual about his teeth to begin with?

When he used the prop in movies, did he always play the same character? Does the character relevantly do something with the teeth? If so, bite someone? something? rip something apart with his teeth?
Is the character a hero? a villain?

Hmm, when asked if the prop makes him look toothless, you said "No, much the opposite", but you said the same when I asked if it makes it look as if he has more teeth than usual... I'm confused. Could you clarify? Sure - the prop makes the actor appear to have fewer teeth than an average person, possibly debatable if he has any "normal" teeth. But while it makes him appear to have no or few "normal" teeth, it makes him appear to obviously have very large teeth of some kind (see below)

An unusual material: gold? steel? titanium? another metal? Some kind of metal, yes carbon fibre? wood? stone? glass? something organic?

Did the man have a normal, ordinary set of teeth without the prop? Yes Or was there something unusual about his teeth to begin with? Not relevant

When he used the prop in movies, did he always play the same character? Yes (same with the modern day person who experienced the same issue) Does the character relevantly do something with the teeth? YES...If so, bite someone? something? rip something apart with his teeth? ...he does all of these things.
Is the character a hero? He's this, but only for a brief moment a villain? He is this in almost every appearance except for his final one where he combined his usual action with one that he hadn't been known to do before

So, I'm fairly certain you're talking about Richard Kiel, who played James Bond's villain Jaws.
Was he asked by people over the years to bite random objects?

Smile? Open their mouth? Yes to both

** SPOILER **

Richard Kiel, famous for playing Jaws in two James Bond films, was known in the movies for having large metal teeth. he only had one spoken line in all of his appearances on screen in the Bond movies. When he appeared in public, at shows, etc. people wanted a photo of him wearing the metal teeth. Kiel said that the mouthpiece was so painful to wear that he only kept it in when required to film a scene, he didn't want to wear them unless he had to for the movies.

A more current example of this is Johnny Depp. The fake teeth pieces that he wore while playing Jack Sparrow were so uncomfortable that he wouldn't wear them unless it was required while making a movie.
