Claude human/animal/other? Concrete or abstract?
If human, adult? If human, male?
Did the sea directly kill Claude, as in Claude drowned in the sea?
Does "sea" mean large body of water? Salt water?

Does this happen when Claude is swimming? In walking distance to the sea/shore? Above the sea?

Is there a relevant nature disaster? Manmade disaster? Would the death be considered a murder? Suicide? Accident?

Was he injured by someone/something in the wave? Knocked unconscious?

Is the phenomenon here something that’s more involved weather-wise than just wind? Is it a hurricane/tornado? Something that happens underwater?

Hint: There is a reason I chose the name Claude (other than being a fan of a certain musical and book)

Is a dam relevant? Perhaps one burst and Claude, in his jean swimming trunks, couldn't get back to his van in time? (Or, ya know, otherwise get away?)
