[Earnest] Crossing the line of decency

Postby Earnest » Tue Oct 13, 2020 7:08 am

"Well I would like to see you in underwear, please"
"I would be glad to!"

Caveat early spoiler. It might be a very quick one.

See you: look at you? Look at a picture of you? Have you being present? Speak to you? Have a meeting? Have a date? See you working? In underwear: clothed in underwear? In a place related to underwear? Such as the underwear section of a store?

Are the speakers currently dressed? Fully? In underwear? Nude?
Are the speakers talking in person? Face to face? Over the phone? Over video chat?
Are the speakers talking at all? Or is the message in text?

Are they flirting (I'm guessing no :))? Do the speakers have a prior relationship?
Does speaker 1 want to buy some underwear? Is speaker 1 considering 2 for a job or gig? Acting relevant? Is speaker 1 a doctor?

Does speaker 1 actually want to see speaker 2 wearing underwear, with no other clothing? If so: to judge something? To examine something? To do something? To ask her to do something?
Is anyone else involved? Is speaker 2 wearing any clothing at all when the dialogue takes place? Is she wearing underwear?

Is speaker 1 a police officer? Does he work in any form of art? Does his profession usually have anything to do with underwear? Or clothing generally?

Does this occur in real life? Or perhaps on a computer game? Are they speaking of being in the same physical space?

Is their relationship professional? Is asking to see someone in their underwear a normal, expected question under the circumstances? Instruction?

Does speaker 1 actually want to see speaker 2 wearing underwear, with no other clothing? Yes he did! If so: to judge something? THIS To examine something?THIS maybe is more accurate To do something? To ask her to do something?
Is anyone else involved? not necessarily. Say there could be someone else Is speaker 2 wearing any clothing at all when the dialogue takes place? Assume so. Speaker 2 is not naked. Is she wearing underwear? Assume so

Is speaker 1 a police officer? Does he work in any form of art? Does his profession usually have anything to do with underwear? Or clothing generally? NO to all!

Does this occur in real life? yes Or perhaps on a computer game? Are they speaking of being in the same physical space? nice idea but no

Is their relationship professional? no Is asking to see someone in their underwear a normal, expected question under the circumstances? DOYD of "normal" but for sure not someone in general. Speaker 2 specifically. Instruction?

Does Speaker 1 often work nude? Is Speaker 1 a model? A stripper? Actually NO to all and it might be relevant. Remember that Speaker 1 judges/examines Speaker 2

Is 2 looking for something specific on 1's body? If so, something that is a part of her body (a mole, a scar)? Or something she wears or carries? Is he checking if she is wearing a surveillance wire? Maybe looking for a tattoo?

Is this happening in the context of them being friends? relatives? strangers? Are they taking part in a game or competition?
is 1 doing her job at any point? is 2 doing his job at any point?

Is 1 looking for something specific on 2's body? more "checking" than "looking for". If so, something that is a part of her body (a mole, a scar)? no to these. Keep exploring on "checking"Or something she wears or carries? No Is he checking if she is wearing a surveillance wire? Maybe looking for a tattoo? No to the latter two

Is this happening in the context of them being friends? relatives? strangers?this Are they taking part in a game or competition? DOYD of competition and game. I would call more a competition. But keep exploring. It's a very famous one!
is 2 doing her job at any point? No is 1 doing his job at any point? YES! For all the duration of the puzzle

Notice: here speaker 1 and 2 are inverted: speaker 1 is the one judging and speaker 2 being judged. All corrected numbers are bold in the question

Sports relevant? Games? Weight? Physique? Measurements? Might be all involved in such competition. In the casse of the puzzle measurement is key. You are close to the spoiler...just a little bit of effort to figure out what the competition is..a little hint: try thinking about the prize of the competition...

Is the prize some clothing? Somethign else worn on the body? Something that needs to fit? Is it a trip to space, and they need to make a fitting spacesuit?

I’m confused. The one who says, “I would be glad to!” is the one doing the judging? And it is the other person whose profession matters? Because you said that Speaker 2 is judging Speaker 1...

RECAP: "Well I would like to see you in underwear, please" (Speaker 1)
"I would be glad to!" (Speaker 2)

We have established so far that Speaker 1 is judging Speaker 2 who is HAF. They are not flirting and Speaker 2 is in a "competition" (for DOYD of competition and game). Speaker 1 is doing his job for all the duration of the puzzle.
To be found out: what sort of competition is Speaker 2 into (which explains why the question of Speaker 1 is not rude)?

Actually I got confused when this question has been asked: Does Speaker 1 often work nude? Is Speaker 1 a model? A stripper? Actually NO to all and it might be relevant. Remember that Speaker 2 judges/examines Speaker 1.
So I will edit the number of Speaker from that question on. Hope the recap above helped. Sorry for any confusion.

Did you forget my question? Will the outcome of the competition depend at least somewhat on seeing her in underwear? --> Ups, sorry GalFisk. Trying not to confound you...the answer is yessish where the -ish part is due to the fact that the answer depends on whether you mean for the general competition (remember DOYD of competition) or for that result in particular.
