[IrishElk] Pressed Peanut Sweepings {RULEBROKEN}

Postby irishelk » Sun Jan 10, 2021 8:23 pm

So, here's something I haven't seen around for a while...
For those who aren't dinosaurs on the forum, a camouflaged rulebreaker looks like a regular puzzle, and you should start by asking questions based on the puzzle statement. However, I will be answering according to a secret rule. Your job is not to solve the puzzle, but to figure out my rule.

A man lies dead in a desert. Next to him is a pebble with a tiny smear of blood.

Was the man hit by the pebble?
Was the man killed by the pebble?
Is the blood from the man?
A hot desert?
Was he murdered?
Has the man been lying dead in the desert next to the pebble for more than a week?

Was the man hit by the pebble? No, no pebble relevant.
Was the man killed by the pebble? No.
Is the blood from the man? No one's bleeding.
A hot desert? No, quite the opposite!
Was he murdered? Goodness no!
Has the man been lying dead in the desert next to the pebble for more than a week? I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Was he killed?

Has the man been lying next to the pebble for more than a week?
Has the man been lying for more than a week?
Has the man been lying?

Was the man hit by the rock?
Was the man killed by the rock?
Is the blood not from the man? I'm unclear who "the man" is you're referring to here. Yourself?...maybe your dad? Anyway, no rocks or blood relevant.
A cold desert? Interesting guess, but irr.
Was he killed? Nope, this is a fatality-free puzzle.
Has the man been lying in the desert next to the pebble for more than a week?
Has the man been lying next to the pebble for more than a week?
Has the man been lying for more than a week?
Has the man been lying? For these, again, no particularly relevant man or pebble.
Was he lying? No lies in this puzzle, just some ingenious plays on words.

OOC: I'm already seeing a possibly fatal flaw with this rule that I hadn't anticipated. But I'll carry on for now. More abstracted questions are welcome.

Hi Malto!

Is the woman GalFisk Is referring to in this song someone who could drive a cello? It seems that Galfisk has only referred to a man thus far. And no songs, driving or cellos relevant. =)

Is the blood his blood?
Human blood?
His blood?
Does the blood belong to him?
Was he murdered?
Assassinated?
Burned at the stake?
Poisoned?
Murdered?
Attacked by a herd of angry wildebeests?
Murdered by a disgruntled lover? By someone else?
Is it animal blood? From the wildebeest who murdered him? From a bird? From his murderer?

Is the blood his blood?
Human blood?
His blood?
Does the blood belong to him? Interesting questions, but there isn't necessarily any blood.
Was he murdered?
Assassinated?
Burned at the stake?
Poisoned?
Murdered? No to all, but a murderous act is relevant.
Attacked by a herd of angry wildebeests? No.
Murdered by a disgruntled lover? By someone else? You know he's not dead, right?
Is it animal blood? From the wildebeest who murdered him? From a bird? From his murderer? No, no blood relevant.

Hey there, wwhere!

Is the man a man? Both men are HAM, yes.
Is the sky blue (during the day)? During the day, yes, but it's night.
Is something true, true? Hm, in the context of the puzzle? There is definitely some deception going on.

Did the man have a name? Did he own the pebble? Attempt to eat it? Can we call him Bob? Did Bob own the pebble? Attempt to eat the pebble? Attempt to eat it? Did Bob attempt to eat the pebble and succeed in doing so? Did he fail? Did he not eat the pebble at all?

Are any of the following relevant:
Donkeys?
Ferrets?
Llamas?
Platypi?
A single platypus hell-bent on destroying the Earth? (Oooh, maybe he murdered Bob? Did he?)
Otters?
Bananas?
Cheese?
Rabies?
COVID?
COVID-19?
Coronavirus?
Corona beer?
The kid whose last name was Corona who I went to high school with until he was expelled for cutting off another student’s nose because he stole his weed?
Another nose slicer-offer?
Potato chips?
Donald Trump?
Donald Trump’s hair?
Donald Trump’s skin tone?

Would the man rather have Donald Trump’s hair or Donald Trump’s skin tone if he were still alive?

Did the man have a name? Yes.

Did he own the pebble? Attempt to eat it? Can we call him Bob? Seems like an odd thing to do, but sure! Did Bob own the pebble? Attempt to eat the pebble? Attempt to eat it? Did Bob attempt to eat the pebble and succeed in doing so? Did he fail? Did he not eat the pebble at all? No pebbles relevant (unless it was trying to eat one that caused the issue, I'm not sure).

Are any of the following relevant:
Donkeys?
Ferrets?
Llamas?
Platypi?
A single platypus hell-bent on destroying the Earth? (Oooh, maybe he murdered Bob? Did he?)
Otters?
Bananas?
Cheese?
Rabies?
COVID?
COVID-19?
Coronavirus?
Corona beer?
The kid whose last name was Corona who I went to high school with until he was expelled for cutting off another student’s nose because he stole his weed? This is the closest to being relevant, but...
Another nose slicer-offer?
Potato chips?
Donald Trump?
Donald Trump’s hair?
Donald Trump’s skin tone? Amazingly, none of that is remotely relevant.

Would the man rather have Donald Trump’s hair or Donald Trump’s skin tone if he were still alive? He is still alive, and you would know the answer to that better than I.

Following the normal practice of asking questions about the rule in Italics....

Is any set of questions in which the last one ends in IrishElk always going to be CA?
Is any set of questions which contains IrishElk at all always going to be CA?
If I were conducting this rulebreaker using the same rule, would the answers to these still apply to your username? To mine? Neither?

Following the normal practice of asking questions about the rule in Italics.... Sounds good.

Is any set of questions in which the last one ends in IrishElk always going to be CA?
Is any set of questions which contains IrishElk at all always going to be CA? No, in fact I honestly did not anticipate any CA answers. It's a bit of an oddity.
If I were conducting this rulebreaker using the same rule, would the answers to these still apply to your username? To mine? Neither? It wouldn't be because of usernames, but the answers would be different if you were the poster and I was asking the questions.

Are you answering as if the questions were asked in another puzzle?
The top puzzle in the Active LTP page relevant? Other puzzles in the same page? Puzzles in the Solved LTP page?

The top puzzle in the Active LTP page relevant? In theory, it could be. Other puzzles in the same page? Possibly, but... Puzzles in the Solved LTP page? Most likely this.

****************************SPOILER

Wunderland hit the nail on the head.

I didn't realize that for many people, the Most Active Topic on their profile would be the special Christmas puzzles! But I still tried to make it work
For some reason, Balin's Most Active is not featured on the profile page.
