[GalFisk] Reality has a well-known liberal bias

Postby GalFisk » Mon Feb 08, 2021 6:31 am

A display at my local store is very biased. But it's probably out of laziness rather than intent.

Did they place goods in a shelf where they do not actually belong? (or look strange, at least)

Is it one specific type of goods?
Could the goods on display be classified as food? drink? clothing? household appliances? hardware? electrical devices? soap/detergents? books? journals/newspapers?
Something people normally have in their houses?
Is something else relevant besides the fact that these products are on display in this store? Labelling? price labels? advertising?

The liberal bias: about age? nationality? language? ethnicity? sexuality? No to all. It's not actually political in nature, though if it is politicized, it tends to be liberal-leaning parties that support the type of bias in question.

Does the display imply that energy-saving bulbs are better? Are they labeled in a different way? Or relevantly in the same way? Maybe all bulbs are the same price in this store, whereas energy-saving bulbs are usually more expensive, thus encouraging "greener" buying?

Is the possible laziness related to how the display is shaped? Something written on it? How the bulbs are organized?

Are the bulbs displayed in the same box or shelf, but sorted? Sorting is irrelevant. They're displayed in the same relevant place, though not a box or shelf.
Energy-saving bulbs in the left part? right part? center? Irrelevant.
Do the energy-saving bulbs come in smaller packages? larger packages? unpackaged? Assume all are alike.

There is not one of each kind switched on? Correct. only a few of the available bulbs? DOYD - the intent of the display is to show off each variant of incandescent and LED bulb available. Then lots of bulbs are in cartons in shelves, for purchase. only energy saving bulbs? Yesish. Explore.only traditional bulbs? Noish, explore. only one type? Yesish, see above. only one light bulb? No.
Edit: answers DOYD of "switched on".

Are only energy saving bulbs lit? and these permanently? even when the shop is closed? thus, not saving but wasting energy?
Are there enough sockets to display all types of available bulbs? Are all sockets used? Are there incandescent bulbs in the sockets? but these not lit?
Did they not switch on the incandescent light bulbs in order to save energy?

Were the incandescent light bulbs broken? or the sockets? or were they not properly inserted into the sockets? Was it intended that they are not lit?
Does the setting imply that incandescent bulbs break faster? need to be replaced more often?

You got it.
SPOILER: my local grocery store has a display showing off the light bulbs they sell. The LED bulbs shine nicely, but the halogen ones are all broken, so what the display really shows is the short lifespan of incandescent bulbs. I'm guessing that they don't want to keep swapping them out all the time - if they run for their rated life of 1000 hours, a new one is needed about every 1.5-2 months, depending on whether they stay on when they store is closed.
Thanks for playing!
