Why did a primary school teacher tell one of his brightest students (who had done nothing wrong) to stand in the corner?

Was it an otherwise empty corner? Did he have to face the wall? Was it part of a game, an exercise, demonstration, example? Compass points relevant? The lesson/subject relevant? M or F?

Had he asked to another student would the puzzle still worked? Cartesian axes relevant? Degrees relevant? Radiant? Other measuraments for angles? Relevant the shape of the room? Can we assume 4 corners and rectangular room? Relevant to which corner he asked the student to go? Did he ask him to stand there for a long period? Did other students previously stand in the same corner? Are shadows relevant?
Subject = multiplications? Sums? Divisions? Angles? Pytagorean theorem? Diffetences? Numeral system? Others?

Stand in the corner = stand in front of the corner? Did the student "represent" a math entity/otherwise abstract object? Were there other students positioned similarly? On other corners? In the middle of the room? Was the student then asked to do something relevant? To cross the room? To walk? To get closer and closer to the wall? To indicate something? To answer a question? To follow a path?
Maybe the corner was behind the board or at the end of the room so that he could not suggest the answers to anyone? Relevant that he was the brightest one? If so because: he could easily solve a problem that the teacher was going to give? He ended up before others? There was the risk that others copy from him?

Did he take the place of someone else on the corner?

Did the teacher ask him to stand there during a lesson? After? Before? Is any "math instrument" relevant? Calculator? Ruler? Compass? Slide rules? Others?

Is it relevant that a corner is 90 degrees?
Did the student complain it was too cold, so the teacher told him to stand in the 90-degree (Fahrenheit) corner?

During a geometry lesson, a bright student complained the room was too cold. The teacher then jokingly told him to stand in the corner, as it would be 90 degrees.
