[Doriana] Rafaela's request

Postby Doriana » Wed Apr 26, 2017 2:20 pm

Rafaela (H/A/F) made a reasonable request, but when I looked at the book she was holding, I had to chuckle.

Do you know Rafaela?
Is the book's title relevant? Does it imply that she should have been able to perform the request by herself? That she shouldn't want to perform the request at all?
Was the request for information? Directions? A Survey? Help carrying something? Help with another task?

Is the language of the book (or its title) relevant? No (the book and its title were in German and so was Rafaela's request, but it would work in any language as long as the person who chuckles understands the language the book title is in)

Is a pun involved? The title of the book? The author? The cover or binding? Would a different edition have caused a different result?

If it is the title, is the title a declarative sentence? Does it cover the same subject as the question? Does it answer the question? Or negate it?

Does it claim to contain the answer to the question? To eliminate the need for asking such a question? To be a book for people who don't ask such questions?

How to act in a certain place? Or setting? No to both.

(Also, keep in mind that the book is fiction, so it's not some sort of self-help or how-to book)

Did she ask you not to do something? Does the book title start "We Don't..."? Does the title imply that she likes/loves something? Dislikes/hates something?

Do you and Rafaela have any relationship (however transient) other than two people in a public place? If so, are you customers of hers? Is she a customer of yours? Are you riding some form of transportation together?

Were you in a library? A bookstore? Were you indoors? Is the weather relevant? Is it relevant exactly what sort of place you were in/at? Were you doing something that annoyed Rafaela? Was your friend? If talking is OTRT, was one of you singing? Speaking in sign language?
